Yes, walk-ins are welcome and we always try to accommodate late arrivals. However, during July–August peak season, tents sell out. We recommend booking at least 3–5 days in advance.
Absolutely! We welcome groups of bikers, corporate teams, and families. For groups of 6 or more guests, we offer discounted rates and can arrange special group activities. Contact us for a custom group quote.
Accommodation & Amenities
A Swiss Cottage Tent is a premium camping tent made from heavy-duty canvas (not a flimsy dome tent). It's large, standing-height, weather-sealed, and furnished with proper beds, mattresses, bedding, and an attached bathroom. Think of it as a hotel room made of canvas — the best of both camping and comfort.
Yes, every Swiss Cottage Tent at The Yunam Adventure comes with its own attached private bathroom with toilet and wash basin. You will never have to share bathroom facilities with other guests.
Yes, hot water is available on request. We use a combination of solar water heating and generator-powered water heating. Just inform our camp staff 30 minutes before you'd like hot water.
Yes. Our generator provides power from sunset (approximately 7pm) to sunrise (approximately 6am). Tents are equipped with light points and USB/power sockets for charging devices.
BSNL has the most reliable signal at Sarchu. Jio and Airtel lose signal after Rohtang Pass and may not work at all at Sarchu. We do not have WiFi at camp. We recommend downloading offline maps and entertainment before you leave Manali.
Absolutely. The Yunam Adventure is well-staffed 24/7, tents are lockable, and our team ensures a safe and respectful environment for all guests including solo female travellers. We have hosted many solo female bikers and trekkers over the years.
Food & Dining
CP (Continental Plan): Includes bed and breakfast only. MAP (Modified American Plan): Includes breakfast and dinner. AP (American Plan): All three meals — breakfast, lunch, and dinner included. We recommend AP for guests who want the full experience without hunting for food.
Our in-house restaurant serves a diverse menu including North Indian (dal, roti, sabzi, rice, curries), Chinese (noodles, momos, fried rice), Continental (eggs in various styles, pasta, sandwiches), and authentic Ladakhi dishes (Thukpa noodle soup, Skyu, Tsampa). Vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and Jain food options available.
Yes. Please inform us at the time of booking about any dietary requirements — vegetarian, vegan, Jain, gluten-free, or allergies. We will do our best to accommodate all needs.
Cold drinks, juices, and hot beverages (chai, coffee, hot chocolate) are available. Alcoholic beverages are not served at camp, but guests are allowed to bring their own from Manali. Please consume responsibly — alcohol worsens altitude sickness.
Safety & Altitude
Sarchu is safe when you prepare properly and ascend gradually. We strongly recommend not coming directly from sea level to Sarchu in one day. Spend a night at Keylong (3,114m) to acclimatise. Our safety guide has detailed advice: read it here.
Yes. Medical-grade oxygen cylinders are maintained at camp at all times. Our staff is trained in administering oxygen and recognising altitude sickness (AMS) symptoms. If you feel unwell, inform camp staff immediately.
Inform our camp staff immediately. Do not ignore symptoms. We will provide oxygen, medication (ORS, Ibuprofen for headache), and monitor your condition. If symptoms worsen (confusion, inability to walk straight, blue lips) — we will arrange immediate descent and evacuation.
Night temperatures at Sarchu range from -5°C to 10°C depending on the month. July and August are milder (3–10°C at night). June and October can dip to -5°C. Our tents are equipped with extra blankets and duvets for all conditions.
Travel & Logistics
Sarchu falls on the Himachal Pradesh–Ladakh border. An Inner Line Permit (ILP) may be required for the Ladakh side. Get this from the DC Office in Manali or the Leh DC Office. Carry valid photo ID and vehicle documents for all Army/Police checkposts on the route.
The road typically opens in early June (after BRO clears the snow from passes) and closes in late October / early November with the first heavy snowfall. The exact dates vary year to year. Always check current status with BRO: 1800-180-3100.
No. There are no petrol pumps at Sarchu. The last fuel station is at Tandi/Keylong (~114km before Sarchu). Carry sufficient fuel plus a reserve 10–15L jerry can.
Yes. We have a large, secure parking area for motorcycles, cars, and SUVs. Parking is free for all camp guests.
Sarchu is 230km from Manali via NH-3 (Manali-Leh Highway). The journey takes approximately 8–10 hours by motorcycle and 7–9 hours by car, depending on conditions. Leave Manali by 6am to reach Sarchu by late afternoon.
